Humphrey came highly recommended from a good friend of ours who grew up in Mombasa. Everything went smooth and according to plan – When we arrived in Old Town, Humphrey was there to meet us, he gave us the details of the tour, was patient and explained everything we saw, and answered all of our questions. Hands down, I would definitely hire Humphrey again and recommend him to any and all visitors to Old Town Mombasa who want an easy, hassle free, in-depth tour of the area. Do yourselves a favor and book with him!

Humphrey was a very knowledgable guide and I enjoyed our time in Fort Jesus. He knew the history of the place very well and was able to answer my questions. Walking around the various parts of Old Town Mombasa he was able to point out all the places of note and it was very interesting.

Humphrey was a nice gentleman and looked after me well, this is very important as a single female travelling alone.

Excellent experience. Humphrey had a wide knowledge of the Fort Jesus and the old town. We walked around for four hours. And I managed to do some good shopping at Spice Market (highly recommended for gifts such as tea, coffee and spices), the first fish market of Mombasa, the first luxury hotel in Mombasa from 1901, the first post office of Kenya, and the first mosque. I also learned about the differences in architecture in the town.

FAQs

See below for some of our guests’ common questions. Have something else you’d like to access?

We have 2 different tours. The ½ Day Mombasa Walking Tour is focused in Old Town Mombasa and around Fort Jesus. Our Full-Day City Tour includes the same walking tour, along with transportation to Haller Park and Akamba Handicraft for an even fuller experience. Don’t miss out!

We aim to do the Mombasa Walking Tour in between 2 and 4 hours. There is plenty to see in the Fort Jesus Museum and around Old Town, and our guests are always filled with questions, so it’s paced leisurely.

Yes, it is very safe. Humphrey will have his mask, and you are welcome to keep yours on as well. The majority is outdoors and in well-ventilated areas, though if you’d like to wear it for more crowded, indoor spots like the Fort Jesus Museum, you are more than welcome to.

You are still welcome to tip in cash, though we can also accept tips through PayPal if you’re looking for a contact-free payment option.

In crowded places, as well as indoor areas, wearing a face mask is recommended. For all tours we ask you to bring your own masks, in case we encounter a busy street or an indoor sighting.
